Ref Title: | LL 30th Oct 1933 | Ref Note: | SS ARCHITECT outbound for Tampico on October 28th grounded at 7.00am about 1,000 ft from dock wall after leaving Brunswick Dock. Four tugs failed to float the vessel laden with Machinery and other heavy cargo. Vessel refloated at high water last night 29th with assistance of six tugs, but vessel making water badly into No. 3 hold, the boiler room and engine room. The vessel was put aground again opposite the Old Coberg Dock entrance where she broke her back at 10.00pm. She broke amidships about 300 yds from the quay wall with her stern resting on one sand bank and her bow resting on another. |
